Signs your crawl space has a moisture problem
Musty odors, visible dampness, condensation on ducts, and cupping floors can signal crawl moisture. Signs help you know when to inspect—they do not by themselves prescribe a scope or a price.
Common indicators
Musty smells upstairs, high indoor humidity, efflorescence on piers, standing water history, rusted metal, or insulation that is damp or falling can all warrant a crawl inspection.
What signs do not tell you
A musty smell does not automatically mean you need full encapsulation. It also does not rule out roof leaks, plumbing leaks, or grading problems. Diagnosis first; scope second; price third.
